If you are tall there may be a few tips on accessorizing that you might want to consider. Long scarves, heavy necklaces & hats accentuate height, as do high swept-back ponytails. It may seem obvious but shoes play a big part in creating height. Choose shoes with detail on the front or flat part of the shoe as opposed to the heel. When choosing colors remember that monochromatic choices emphasize height, as do vertical patterns.

Accessories truly make the difference. I am a busy mom of 3 and although I enjoy shopping and love fashion, I don’t always have time to do those things as much as I would like too. I have found my most important accessories to be my hair & my nails/toes! I pay a little extra to ensure I have a fabulous cut. If my hair looks great then the rest of me feel’s “put together” too. I can throw on a cute t-shirt and some shorts/jeans and still feel great. Mani’s & Pedi’s are a must whether you go somewhere or do it yourself. I love a French mani/pedi for spring/summer as well as bright, fun colors. Metallics are awesome for fall/ winter or eveningwear. A polish change can improve your whole mood and take your outfit to the next level. TRY IT!

My favorite thing about accessorizing is that you can take very basic pieces of clothing and really dress them up with just a few accessories. Or you can go from daytime to evening in a flash. Trade out flats, for heals, add some glitz to your neck and wrists and glam up the makeup! You are ready for a night on the town! Oh, be sure to grab the cute little clutch too! Shoes and handbags don’t have to be an exact match but should compliment each other. Also, make sure that all of the pieces you have chosen have the same or similar style. For example, if you are wearing a belt with a silver buckle, choose some earrings and a bracelet both in silver tones. Keeping the metals the same will give you a “put together” look and will make a “statement”.

Accessorizing is the final touch to your outfit and makes it YOURS! One of the best ways to get ideas is to select a great fashion magazine that reflects your personal style. Find some looks that you love and then make purchases accordingly. If I find a look that I like I often rip out the page and stick it in my purse, then when I am out I can easily find exactly what I am looking for. You can spend as much or as little as you like. Have fun with it!

Once you are completely ready, a great fashion rule to remember is to always take the last accessory you put on “off”. This is to ensure that you don’t look “overdone” or that you don’t appear to be “trying to hard”. Less is more.
